University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital Health workers under the banners of Joint Health Staff Union (JOHESU) have embarked on industrial action.
The industrial action was announced after the unions meeting held at the University’s premises this morning, which will last for an initial period of 7 days.
Rising from the general meeting today, the JOHESU chairman Mr Abiola olutunde reeling out the grievances of the striking staffs, reeling out the 17 demands of striking worker’s demands he said “Drugs out of stock in NHIS, lack of Laboratories re-agent (giving supply to non expert), poor Staff Welfare I.e Car loan, furniture loan etc.
“UITH lost Staff in Microbiology Department but Mgt failed to release,
2020 Promotion Exercise yet to release Promotion letter, Re-deployment of Convention Staff, Recruitment of Porter, 2017 Promotion Arrears (April / May 2017), Re-designation of rank in Admin. (HND Issue).
“Skipping arrears of about 426 Million, Refusers to promote due & over dues staff to Director Cadres, 2009 & 2011 Promotion Arrears, 2018 & 2019 Promotion Arrears, Overtime Allowance, Uniform Allowance, Employment for Children of Staff and inadequate of PPE among others.
