The newly appointed Dean, Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences(FCIS), Prof. Lukman Azeez Adeshina has expressed his appreciation to members of the Faculty for their support towards electing him as the Dean of FCIS while delivering his acceptance address as the Dean-elect of FCIS.

Prof. Azeez expressed his gratitude to all members of the faculty  for their support, magnanimity, maturity and commitment towards the success of the election and survival of the Faculty.

In addition, he specially thanked the outgoing Dean, Prof. R. G Jimoh for his commitment and dedication to the cause and survival of the Faculty.

Speaking on, he urged all members to maintain the virtues of love, togetherness, discipline, and unity of purpose in a bid to represent the faculty to the outside world adding that members should individually and collectively imbibe academic traditions of respect for seniority and for each other.

He said “When I say respect for seniority , I don’t mean docility or slavery. Academic thrives when we are able to express our opinion without fear. University is where we debate issues with reasoning. But while we express our opinion, let us show discipline , demonstrate courtesy and politeness. Being a lecturer in University goes with a lot of restraints. I beg us all to take up restraints as our watch word”.

Prof. Azeez pleaded for continuous support from members of the faculty by being willingly submissive to the glory and good name of the faculty. He further reassured is goal to reposition the faculty for its survival and great glory.

“I need your support to achieve the goal. I need you to willingly show more discipline. I need you to imbibe academic traditions that would make Academia distinct from all other professional groups. this cannot be forced , it must come from within , he added.
