PVC: 24 hours after SDP’s call, Gov. Abdulrazaq declares work free day

By Bisi Oyelere
Barely 24 hours after the Kwara State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) charged the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to declare a work free day to enable workers collect their PVC and enroll for CVR, he has declared Friday, July 29th, 2022.
It would be recalled the SDP State chairman Alh. AbdulAzeez Afolabi had via a press made available to newsmen in Ilorin yesterday, demanded the immediate declaration of a work free day to allow the State’s civil servants to enroll for the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, saying such measure would also allow other public servants to replace either damaged or collect their PVC lying ‘waste’ in INEC custody.
He said “With the continuous voter registration (CVR) winding up in 5 days time, precisely 31st of July, 2022, it is expedient that the Kwara State Governor, takes a cue from his counterparts across the Country, by declaring public holiday to enable civil and public servants at all levels take advantage of the remaining days to participate in the exercise.
“In the same vein, I seize this opportunity to advise the teeming Youths of Kwara to take the destiny of our future now by taking advantage of this window of opportunity to enroll and collect their PVC.” He concluded.
The Governor while acceding to the charge via a release signed by his Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye and made available to newsmen in Ilorin this morning said “Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has declared Friday (July 29) work-free for civil servants in the state to enable them register to vote in the next general election.
“His Excellency urges the people of Kwara State, especially the civil servants, to take full advantage of the holiday to perform their civic duty of registering to vote,” he added.
