Online Vendor, Khadi found dead in Ibadan Hotel

Adeshina Olayinka, popularly known as Khadi, known to be a vendor has been found dead in Wetland Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo state capital, after lodging with a yet to be identified man.

Olayinka via her instagram handle @shop_with_khadi sells fashion accessories.

Olayinka had informed her friend that she wanted to visit someone at Wetland hotel in Akobo on Wednesday night and eventually passed the night in the hotel, according to Oloriebiblog (@Oloriebiblog_)

“On Thursday, the man she lodged with, while attempting to check out early in the morning was stopped by the receptionist, who put a call through to Olayinka to confirm her safety. Olayinka was however reported to have picked up the call and gave permission to allow the man leave while she was still in, resting and that there was no cause for alarm, soon she will check out too.”

“Few hours later, the receptionist who was said to have borrowed the deceased a power-bank went to knock on her door to remind her it was time to check out. but no one responded. A situation that led to the hotel manager opting to open the door room with a master card, only to find her dead”, a source at the hotel said.

Confirming the incident, Management of Wetland Hotel, Akobo, Ibadan, Oyo state Nigeria, described the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and expressed regret over the death of Khadi.

The Hotel Management said “To the General Public and our Dear Valued Guests, we regret to inform you that an unfortunate incident occurred at our hotel, Wetland Hotel. One of our guests passed away while staying with us.

“We are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation into this matter, and we assure you that we are doing everything we can to assist the Police in their efforts to determine the cause of death.

“Please rest assured that the safety and well-being of our guests and staff are our top priority. We have taken all necessary measures to ensure that our facilities and services continue to meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety.

“As the investigation is ongoing, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased, and we offer our support to all those affected by this tragic event”, the statement added.
