The umbrella body for indigenous students of Kwara, National Association of Kwara state Students (NAKSS) National Headquarters has kickstarted process to conduct another round of elections into various offices of the Association.
In a statement issued and made available to Journalists in Ilorin, the State capital on Monday, the National President of NAKSS Nhqs, Comr. Muftau Mubaraq Shittu said the NAKSS Executive has forwarded names of nominees for Independent Students Electoral Committee for the purpose of NAKSS 2022/2023 elections to the Senate Council.
Mubaraq noted that “The executive being constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of nominating the members of the Electoral committee for subsequent scrutiny and inauguration by senate council assured the soonest scrutiny and inauguration of the nominees submitted to the senate council.
“This is in line with Article 13, section 1(i) of the Nakss Nhqs constitution states and I quote ‘At about thirty days (30) the last convention to be held, the incumbent executive shall nominate at least 3 representatives from each of three senatorial districts into the electoral committee and submit such to the General Secretary for onward transmission to the Senate Council for scrutiny and inauguration”, he added.
In a letter dated 24-01-2022, the leadership of the Association through its Director-General Comrade Abdulmumeen Abubakar sent the list of Electoral Committee to the Senate council for onward scrutiny and inauguration after careful selection of students with unquestionable records.
Consequently. the nomination letter from the Executive arm of the Association was read and adopted on today’s plenary of NAKSS Senate Council, with screening and inauguration of the nominees expected to hold during the next sitting of the Senate council, scheduled for Wednesday 26th January 2022.
“As the Association anticipate in earnest the screening and inauguration of the Electoral Committee, Mubaraq urge members of the Association to see the her actions and processes as commitments toward ushering in a new set of Leadership to pilot the affairs of the association in another year as efficiently and sacredly prescribed by the constitution.
