LG Election: KWASIEC nominees assure of level play ground, as Kwara Assembly confirms appointment of Chairman, Members

The Kwara State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointments of nominees for positions of Chairman and Members of Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission KWSIEC in the State.

The appointment of the nominees were considered at the Committee-of- Whole Chaired by the Speaker, Engineer Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu after thorough screening on the floor of the House today.

The nominees confirmed by the House include Muhammad Baba-Okanla as Chairman, while Frederic Sabi Abel, Engineer Hassan Taiye Salami, Gbedeyan Gbadura Yomi, Ndama Al-Hassan, Saka Baliqees Kehinde, and Engineer Abdullahi Janat Amdat, would serve as members of Commission.

Responding to questions, from lawmakers Chairman of the Commission, Mr Muhammad Baba-Okanla promised to be impartial in the conduct of Local Government polls in the State.

Mr Baba-Okanla reaffirmed the resolve of the electoral umpire of providing level plain field for participating political parties before, during and after Local Government elections.

Also Speaking, a member of the Commission Engineer Hassan Taiye-Salami charged the political class to always imbibe spirit of sportsmanship to ensure hitch free polls.

Engineer Salami assured lawmakers of interfacing with credible Civil Society Organizations and other relevant stakeholders to engender transparent electoral process.

Reading the resolution of the house the speaker said the chairman and members were confirmed after thorough screening.

The speaker therefore directed Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimah Kperogi to communicate the notice of the confirmation of the appointments to the Governor.
