KWSG makes u-turn on women affairs ministry 12 months after, accepts Pategi’s resignation

The Kwara State government has made a u-turn by bringing back the scrapped Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, 12 months after.
It would be recalled, the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had while inaugurating cabinet last year December, announced the scrapping of the Ministry of women affairs, thereby renaming it Ministry of Social Development.
Making a u-turn 12 months after, the Governor, via a press release signed by the Commissioner for Communications, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, a copy of which was made available to this medium in Ilorin today.
The release reads “The cabinet meanwhile has also approved the reversal of the Ministry of Social Development to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development following a memo by the Head of Service Modupe Oluwole who said excluding ‘women affairs’ from the nomenclature may deprive the state of certain benefits especially from gender-based international development partners” she announced
Meanwhile the Kwara State government has confirmed Fresh Insight’s story announcing the resignation of the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hajia Aisha Pategi’s earlier today.
This much was confirmed by the Commissioner for Communications Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin via a terse press release, made available to news men in Ilorin.
It reads “The government has received the resignation of Hon. Aishah Ahman-Pategi who was Commissioner for Special Duties. The government accepts same, and wishes her the best in her future endeavours” it reads
