Kwara Youths, under the aegis of Oke-Onigbin Youth Association has donated a multimillion naira security patrol van to the community security volunteers to ease patrol within the community.
It would be recalled incidents of Kidnapping and banditry had engulfed the community and other neighbouring towns over the last couple of months with scores killed and others kidnaped, with millions of naira paid to regain their freedom.
Speaking with Fresh Insight on the rationale behind the donation the association’s Social Secretary, Comr. Oyinloye Smith Olakunle said “The association under the leadership of Alhaji Fatai Olabamire as President, bought a community patrol van for the community for security use, as a matter of exigency due to the security threat happenings around our neighborhood and state as a whole.
“The entire members of the association home and abroad contributed and donated the van as presented to the paramount ruler of Oke-Onigbin, Oba Salaudeen kamaldeen Abegunde lll for a to secure lives and properties.
“The entire community is happy on this landslide development. We also call on all sons and daughter of igbomina land to rise up in securing our land. Issues of kidnapping and other criminal activities ravaging our land is a misnomer, we all especially the youths must rise up to the occasion.
Appreciating the youth on the laudable donation, he bemoaned the insecurity across Kwara South communities, stressing that all hands must be on deck to arrest the slide, stressing that the only way out is for all and sundry to come together, partner and complement the government’s efforts towards banishing insecurity and crimes from our communities.
He however prayed for continuous upliftment of the youths, praying that may God replenish them abundantly.
