Kwara Central PDP Youth Leaders kick against ‘inciting’ stands of Efura

By Imam Mormoke
The Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party youth leaders in the Kwara Central Senatorial District of the State, have kicked against the “inciting” stands of a group within the PDP fold named Efura.
This much was contained in a letter addressed to the State Chairman of the Party, Engr. Kola Shittu, a copy of which was made available to Fresh Insight in Ilorin today.
The letter jointly signed by all the 4 local government youth leaders, Comrade Bolakale Okoh Ilorin West, Hon. Saadu Abdulwasiu ASA, Comr. Razaq Aremu Ilorin South and Comr. Sheu Saheed Olesin Ilorin East and dated 4th, June 2021 reads “We write with all sense of humility to react to the provocation being promoted by some individuals under the platform of ‘Efura Group’ and some Concerned Youths in the Kwara Central in the guise of supporting the Kwara North 2023 governorship ambition.
“The ways and manners which these people are inciting the Kwara North against the Central part of the State is promoting division and pitching the two senatorial districts (Kwara North and Central) that have been Traditionally and Politically brotherhood of each other. The motive for such interference by these set of people is becoming Suspicious.
“We believe that as both the Kwara North Central and South have shared and been enjoying strong history of cordial relationship based on mutual respect, the issue of which zone to produce the governorship candidate comes 2023 is one that can be discuss and settle at the party level in conjunction with the leaders of the party and not just within the smaller set of people. It is not in the place of some individuals to take it upon themselves and started acting in ways that will widen the gap within a party that is pursuing Reconciliation and Mobilization.
“We the Party Youth Leaders of Kwara Central are not happy with the divisive and inciting activities of this set of individuals especially as it relates to the issue of 2023 governorship contest within the PDP, as we believe that it’s not yet time to be engaging on such issue, what matter most now, is how we can have back and deliver our individual polling units.
” It won’t breed anything good if we continue to use this strategy against each other in connivance with whosoever is our backer(s).
“Moreover on this matter of 2023 governorship, we are of the strong opinion that it is purely a matter between the Kwarans. At the most appropriate time, those at the grassroot and the leadership of the party will come to an agreement on the issue, and which we insha Allah believe will be totally accepted by the good people of the State. But it is completely not in the interest of unity of our party (PDP) for any individual or group of people to take up the role of fighters for zoning and in the process to pitch the party members against each other.
” Essentially, it is shortsightedness for anyone to even start promoting zoning in Kwara PDP which needs to put her best legs forward in the next election, so that we won’t make the mistake made by the current administration of APC in the state in choosing our Party gubernatorial flag bearer.
“When it is time to field a candidate in 2023, we would together  recommend to put forward the most competent individual with track record of antecedents and commitments who can convince the people of our intention to deliver the dividends of democracy. We say the present government is clueless, so we cannot start talking of adopting a strategy that would limit our options.
” The majority of Kwara youths are strongly appealing to you to use your good office to prevail on this issue, in line with the ongoing Reconciliation within the PDP members in the State, we do not need any group of people to create crisis by getting involved in a matter that does not have any direct bearing on them.
“we are by this letter appealing to you to engage with the PDP leadership in Kwara State to prevail on these people to desist from their provocative activities against Party members in the State. As we believe divided house will take us to no where. Unity can only win us elections, divided has nothing than failure.
“If an Oba and Emir can deem it fit to support the Second term agenda of this clueless and tyranny  administration in the State, we believe we need nothing than Unity, Togetherness and Brotherhood” it added
