Netizens have described the Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo-led Kwara Redemption Movement (KRM) as usual election cycle political business, insinuating that the initiative was ill-motivated and not about Kwara state or its people.
In the comment section of the coverage of the inauguration of the KRM, aired on the African Independent Television (AIT) Facebook page and other social media handles that shared the news story, some Facebook users who commented on the launching of the initiative asserted that it is another attempt to ‘cash out’.
Tajudeen Lukman said, “What a shame”. Prince Ade commented, “Una think say people never wise? Stomach infrastructure politicians.” Aremu Lukman Umor said, “Unserious people.” Ahjalha Horpeyemi added, “Hungry never wire u well, u always jump to where money dey”.
Muhammed O AbdulAzeez noted, “Lolz Akogun want to do business as usual but no chance again in Kwara State. Gov. AbdulRazaq win Kwara election without his support. O to Ge struggles in Kwara State not because of any Political leader but Kwarans are tired of Saraki Slavery administration.”
Other comments include: Afuape Oyewole, “Saraki will never Win elections in Kwara without fed might.. he has gone for ever. de caurse of his Pale still hunting him.”; Chinonso Agbakula Solomon, “Hungry political bingo’s”; Piper Alomzo, “Egunje tinz….shameless gallantry….second bass ooooooojare”; and Olayinka Saheed, “The only sin of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is his refusal for those useless people to embezzle Kwarans money and properties. Useless Akogun supported SDP in 2023 and he couldn’t even deliver his polling unit to his candidates. Paper weight politicians.”
Adam Yusuf commented, “Baba want to cash out. Another season to chop clean mouth.” Nwodo Ikechukwu said, “U will suffer, do u know what movement is?” Okoli-Ezechukwu Stephen Izuchukwu added, “Give them small money and see them leak their vomit.”
The KRM had inaugurated its 16 local government coordinators in Ilorin, Kwara State, with a call for a new leadership culture grounded in fairness, compassion, and fidelity.
KRM Coordinator, Barr. Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, emphasized that the Association is not politically aligned with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and sets out to champion a movement that departs from the current leadership of the state. The reaction of the people towards this initiative, however, suggests the unpopularity of such an ideal.
