Ilorin rainstorm: Kwara Speaker visits hospitalized victims, affected residences

Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, today visited victims of Ilorin windstorm who were hospitalized at the Ilorin General Hospital, Surulere.

The lawmaker, who had earlier expressed his sympathy for those affected by the rainstorm personally visited several communities where the rainstorm wrecked havoc, in company of the the Deputy Speaker – Hon. Adetiba Olarewaju Rapheal, Majority leader of the House – Hon. Abubakar Magaji Olawoyin, Deputy Whip – Hon. Ali Amuda Jimoh and member representing Ilorin South constituency – Hon. Abdulazeez Hassan Elewu.

While interacting with some of the residents of areas visited, Danladi– Salihu described the development as “sad and unexpected”, stating that the government will do everything possibly within the shortest possible period to ensure no Kwaran is rendered homeless on the account of the incidence, a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Ibrahim Sheriff reads.

“This is a natural disaster beyond human control. Although we are not happy about it, it has happened and we want you to know that as a responsive and responsible government, we are with you at this trying time. We are working round the clock to ensure no Kwaran is rendered homeless on the account of the disaster”, Danladi said.

“As a proactive legislature, we are here to see things ourselves and feel your pulse. We are working with the Executive to fast track the process of offering succor to the tons of affected residence.”

The Speaker, who paid condolence visit to family of a deceased victim, later proceeded to see other hospitalized victims at the Ilorin General Hospital. He offered support to the victims and wished them quick recovery, and equally pray Allah forgive the deceased victims and grant their families fortitude to bear the loss.

Areas visited includes Wara-Osin, Adewole, Idi-Igba, Pakata, Ita-Ogunbo, Ajikobi, Magaji, Ita Kudimo and Oke Aluko – Akata, among others.
