How I’ll fill inequality gaps in Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency- Muktar Shagaya

A frontline All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Muktar Tolani Shagaya has promised to harness economic opportunities to improve wellbeing of his constituents and bridge the inequality gaps in Asa/Ilorin West Local Governments, if given the privilege to serve.

Shagaya, a graduate of International Relations disclosed this on Monday during an interactive session with members of Association of Kwara State Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) at his  Ilorin GRA Residence.

According to him, agriculture, pottery and tourism are major endowments of his constituency, which can be tapped into, to develop the Federal Constituency.

“For instance, the Cashew in Asa local government has huge economic benefits in the international market. We can get our people involved in such economically productive activities to improve their standard of living. The same thing is applicable to pottery and cherished Ilorin Emirate Tradition/Culture via tourism”, he said.

Shagaya added that “We have the resources, what is required is organization and the right strategy which actually starts with figuring out what the people want and creating opportunities for them to achieve it. So, we will establish a effective communication with the people to know their preferences and map out ways to enhance their prosperity.”

The Business Development Expert said his aspiration was born out of desire to accelerate development of the two local government areas within the constituency and Kwara State at large.

His words: “I am running to better the lot of my people irrespective of their social or economic status. As young person with wide exposure, I want to replicate and attract good things have seen in other parts of Nigeria and beyond here. I believe we can achieve much more by getting involved in governance and policies making”.

Shagaya hinted that his ongoing engagement of different groups and stakeholders will be use to develop workable and implementable legislative agenda and blueprint for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency.

Speaking on his chance of clinching APC ticket, Shagaya expressed optimism in winning the forthcoming primary election, noting that acceptability of his candidacy among party faithful is growing daily.

“I am working hard to get the party ticket but God has the final say on every matter. We enjoy good acceptability rating among party members in the two local government areas. We just met APC members from Magaji Ngeri ward of Ilorin West local government who came to show their solidarity and support.
