Gov. Avdulrahman Abdulrazaq has appointed Comr. Abdulmumeen Onagun as Senior Special Assistant on Labour matters.
The appointment which is coming more than 2 years after the swearing-in of the Governor, is coming at a time the government is having a seemingly frosty relationship with the organised labour in the State.
It would be recalled the government and the organised labour had been in loggerheads over the non implementation of the #30,000 minimum, which was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
The negotiations which broke down, led to the government instituting legal action against the organised labour at the National Industrial Court.
Reacting to the appointment, the Kwara State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comr. Issa Ore expressed the delight of the labour movement, stressing that Comr. Onagun is a respected labour man and thus pledge the support of the organised labour for him.
The letter reads “The leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Kwara State council non behalf of the entire workforce of the State wishes to congratulate Comr. Abdulmumeen Onagun on his appointment as Senior Special Assistant, Labour matters to the Kwara State Governor.
“The congress believes in the wealth of experience and personal qualities which prompted his appointment into the very all important and demanding position in the State.
“We stretch our hands of fellowship towards achieving and sustenance of peaceful and harmonious working relationship, as he discharges his duties” it partly reads.
