DSS confirms arrest of suspended CBN Gov., Emefiele

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

It can be recalled that Fresh Insight reported that Emefiele was arrested by the DSS, shortly after he was suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday.

In a tweet by the DSS at 10:47am on Saturday however, the Intelligence Agency said “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”

But in a recent twist, the DSS via a terse press release signed by its Public Relations Office, Peter Afunanya PhD, fsi, confirmed that Emefiele is now in its custody.

The statement reads “The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.

“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this”, it added.
