There’s a growing mistrust within the ranks of the Kwara State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), owing to the National Headquarter’s rejection of appointment of new Party Scribe, Publicity Secretary, Youth Leader, among others newly elected state executives of the party.
It would be recalled the national secretariat of the PDP, had via a letter signed by the National Organising Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, stressed that the filling of the SWC vacancies violated due process and thus, set aside.
While the party announced the suspension of the party’s Youth leader Hon. Haliru Dantsoho, who raised allegations of mismanagement of Presidential campaign funds against Dr. Bukola Saraki and leadership of the party in the State, Alh. Razaq Lawal and Prince Tunji Moronfoye resigned as the State Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively in hazy circumstances.
However, reacting to the development, a staunch ally of Mr. AbdulRahman Abdullahi Kayode, the new Party Secretary whose appointment is now invalidated, Mr. Karim Onilemarun, described the development as a clear pointer to the State Chairman’s incompetence and subterfuge sabotage of the young members of the party.
Onilemarun made his take known via his message on X formerly known as Twitter handle, bemoaning the Chairman’s submition of letter to the party’s headquarters without ‘proper follow-up’, suggesting that such action may be part of a setup against the progress of the newly elected young executives.
He said “I am deeply concerned about the notable incompetence displayed by the Kwara PDP chairman.
“Submitting a letter to the party’s headquarters without ensuring proper follow-up is both irresponsible and detrimental to the progress of our newly elected young executives.”
“This looks like a setup against our newly elected young executives. It is disheartening to witness such tactics being employed within our own party,” he stated. Onilemarun emphasized the importance of addressing the issue promptly, urging the party’s leadership not to ignore the matter” he alleged.
All attempts to get the reaction of the embattled party Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed proved abortive as calls put through to his phone line were unsuccessful, likewise messages sent to his number we’re unanswered as at the time of filing this report.
