The Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi has called on philanthropists, wealthy individuals and corporate organizations at levels to support Kwara state government in its fight against dreaded Coronavirus disease, COVID-19.
The legislator made this call while receiving no fewer than 8,000 bags of maize flour donated by the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Hasswabb Global Group of Companies, Chikanda – Baruten, Alhaji Abdulwahab Adetayo Hassan at Baruten local government headquarters, Kosubosu over the weekends.
The food items which are to be distributed to Yashikira, Kosubosu, Okuta, Gwanara, among other Baruten Communities, Kaiama, Kaiama local government of Kwara state and Kisi, Irepo local government of Oyo state.
“This is the first of its kind in Kwara North, we appreciate the huge gesture and as charge all well to do people to emulate the donor, government cannot win this war alone, as oliver twist, we ask for more. We need the business community to support the State government’s effort in fighting COVID-19”, Danladi said according to a statement by his Special Assistant, Media, Ibrahim Sheriff.
Danladi while lauding the effort of the Kwara state COVID-19 task force committee for being proactive , also commended the traditional rulers for offering the State government the necessary support need to win the war at a the grassroots.
“COVID-19 is real and still very much around even while we’re gradually opening up the community for commercial, social and religious activities to resume under highly censored atmosphere. Let us all continue to follow religiously, safety guidelines aimed at flattening the transmission curve of the virus”, he added.
He assured the people that the present administration is committed to continue delivering good governance to all class of Kwarans, stating several rural projects will soon kickstart across sectors, notwithstanding those completed in the last one year.
Speaking in the same vein, Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy affairs and Community Development, Hon. Aisha Ahman-Pategi, on behalf of Kwara State government, appreciated the donor and encouraged private playerd to continue supporting the government, while assuring them of commitment to rural community development.
In his own reaction, the Emir of Yashikira, Dr. Usman Umaru Seriki thanked and prayed for the donor, while indulging all the haves to always remember what Allah’s blessing on them is not only for their personal consumption, but to serve humanity through assisting the needy.
