The Chairman of the Kwara state Geographic Information Service (KWAGIS), Mr. Abdulmutalib Shittu and no fewer than two Directors of the agency are being grilled by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Fresh Insight can authoritative report.
KWAGIS is the Kwara state government agency that warehouses the State Bureau of Lands, Office of Surveyor-General, Physical Planning Authority and Directorate of Urban and Regional Planning.
The KWAGIS boss, Abdulmutalib is allegedly under investigation over an enumeration programme sponsored by the World Bank between 2021 and 2022 as part of the Master Plan programme for Ilorin metropolis, under the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) scheme, according to impeccable source.
According to Fresh Insight’s source, aside Abdulmutalib, other officials of KWAGIS that were invited and grilled by the EFCC includes the Director of Personnel and Finance (DPFS), Mrs. Olawoyin Abosede and Head of Accounting Department, Gani Sulu.
“Abdulmutalib was invited by the EFCC, Ilorin zonal office on Monday 9th January, 2023. He was there the whole day and was released to go home later in the night. He however reported back to EFCC office on Tuesday morning.
“Olawoyin in her own case arrived EFCC office at about 12pm on Wednesday. She was there for more than 7hours. The Head of Accounting Department, Sulu arrived EFCC office around 12pm too, he was there for almost 7hours too”, the source said.
“They are under investigation over SFTAS program sponsored by World Bank between 2021 and last year for enumeration as part of the master plan programme for Ilorin metropolis.”
When our correspondent contacted Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC’s spokesperson, he said “I have not heard anything of such. Contact Ilorin office.”
Several calls put through to EFCC Ilorin zonal spokesperson, Ayodele Babatunde Joseph were unanswered as at the time of filling this report.
