Breaking: Gov. AbdulRazaq to sack Auditor General

By Abdulrasheed Akogun

Barring any last minute changes, the Kwara State Auditor General, Adekeye Samuel will be sacked in the next couple of days, Fresh Insight can report.

According to sources in the know, the Governor’s decision is hinged on numerous controversies which had trailed the 2021 Kwara State audit report, wherein the Auditor General queried several unreceipted financial transactions of the government which received the attention of the leading Civil Society Organization in the State Elite Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD).

According to the Governor’s letter to the State House of Assembly seeking the removal of Auditor General of State, Adeyeye Samuel, titled ” Removal of Mr Adeyeye O Samuel as Auditor General of Kwara State” addressed to the Speaker, of the House and read at the plenary today, AbdulRazaq said Adeyeye was found culpable of misconduct, least expected from Public Officer of his status, capable of misleading the government and the general public.

He noted that the Auditor General claimed that he had not been able to cash-back the allocation due to his office as he later confirmed that he had accessed thirty  percent of the allocation as at June last year.

The Governor said the Auditor General  indicted sixty seven Ministries Departmental and Agencies in his publication of 2019 State Audit Report as only Thirteen MDAs were later confirmed by him to have Audit Queries.

Governor Abdulrasaq said he acted on section one two seven of the 1999 constitution as the Public Officer, Adeyemi Samuel be removed forthwith as the Auditor General of Kwara State.
