The University of Ilorin, will be rolling out the drums in celebration of the golden jubilee anniversary of the Institution’s founding this year, Prof. Egbewole has disclosed.
Addressing newsmen at the University’s campus on Monday, the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole SAN, said “2025 promises to be a landmark year in the history of University of Ilorin, we’ll clock 50 years as an institution this year and as you’ve seen with the unveiling of our anniversary logo, we’ll be rolling out the drums to celebrate the laudable impacts of the University.
“We’ll be showcasing our laudable contributions to the nation, we’ll be honouring deserving and worthy alumnus of the Institution, we’ll also be commissioning series of projects among other activities lined up in commemoration of the golden jubilee anniversary.
Meanwhile, the University of Ilorin has once again frown at any of its students being involved in anti-social activities, stressing that it’s a clear negation of the principles of the institution, which places premium on not only academic excellence but also worthy character and that’s why, the two are simultaneously considered before awarding the institution’s certificate to anybody.
On the issue of the arrested students of the institution by the Men of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),
He said “We’re closely monitoring the incident of some Unilorin Students alleged of peddling drugs by the NDLEA. We’re a law abiding institution, the accused stand innocent in the face of the law, until proven otherwise by a Court of competent jurisdiction.
“Thus, until that is effectively trashed, we’ll continue to keep tab of the development. However, Unilorin as an institution has zero tolerance for social vices of any such, so we frown at such.
“We pride our products as worthy in learning and character, so anything that calls to question the character and integrity of any of our students, negates the principles and all we represent in Unilorin” he added.
