KWHA, Executive relationship in the Interest of our people – Speaker

The Kwara State House of Assembly has described its cordial relationship with Executive arm, as one dictated by the interest of the electorates and the Generality of Kwarans.

This much was espoused at the Kwara State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalist’s annual press week, which held at the secretariat, Ilorin earlier today.

Delivering his keynote address with the topic, Executive/Legislative Relationship, in whose interest, the Speaker of the Kwara State 10th Assembly said, it’s in the utmost interest of the citizens for both arms to work harmoniously.

He said “Those referring to the Assembly as rubber stamp are either not well informed or mischievous, because we’re anything but a rubber stamp, but if rancour is what they expect that’ll make them speak good of us, then they’ll never see that.

“The ugly scenerio playing out in Rivers State, is a clear pointer that when the executive and legislative arm of government fights, the electorates suffers, because the fight constitutes distraction for both arms.

“Although both arms of government are independent, yet the constitution envisages and preaches harmonious relationship without jeopardising its independence and interdependence

“Through our robust relationship with the Mall. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led State Government, all 24 members of the State House of Assembly has been able to attract varying degrees of dividends of Democracy back home.

“Also, we’ve been able to provide urgent succours to the plights of our people, without much rancour and showmanship.

“With all sense of modesty and without unnecessarily blowing our trumpet, the 9th Assembly members performed to the admiration of our various constituencies and the 10th Assembly has picked up the gauntlet, hoping to outperform our predecessors.
